I just had a local wallpaper installer come to my home in Queens, NY to estimate the cost of papering a 5'x7' bathroom with 8' walls (including the ceiling).
He said that if I removed the old paper myself, sanded the walls and ceiling, and applied an oil-based primer, he would do the sizing and paper the room for $250 (US dollars). While I respect the expertise of a professional, experienced wallpaper installer, I suspect that his price is too high.
What is a reasonable amount to pay for repapering a small bathroom like mine? Should I expect to have to prepare the walls and the ceiling myself?
