I need to hang two different papers, one above the other, changing half way up a wall. Then apply a border at the seam. What is a good technique for seaming in the middle?

Doug, The easiest way would be double-cutting the two papers where you want the seam, having the seam at the center of the border. You have to be careful that the two joining papers are not visible through the border. There are varying double-cutting techniques, but basically it is over-lapping the top and bottom papers and with a sharp razor cutting the two papers simultanously. Then peel the top paper cut edge and lift it and remove cut bottom paper and they should fit together and seam up. However , you should place careful attention to cut both papers but try not to cut too deeply into wall surface. My written explanation might not be as thorough as someone else on the forum and someone may have an alternative method. I have found that if you give even more details about your project, ie: wall space, type of wallpaper being installed, type of wall surface to be installed over and your expertise can help with more direct instructions

After determining the height at which you want the break, use a laser level to throw a horizontal line around the room at that height. using a 36" straight edge with a handle, follow your lazor line around the room cutting the overlapping papers. It's a pice of cake. Next, The lazor level also provides that perfect hang height for the border. You can inlay it, again using the straight edge to double cut or hang the border directly on top of the two papers' seem- whcih ever look you desire.
