hi there,
I have drywall that I am trying to remove vinyl wallpaper border from. It is about 15 years old. Any suggestions for removal with as little mess as possible?

Try getting the vinyl surface to strip off, first. If you can get a corner up, peel off the vinyl surface from the backing. Then soak the paper backing with removal solution and let it work to losen the adhesive. A few soakings and time will losen the paper backing. This should be a piece of cake. If you can't get the vinyl surface to delaminate, use a Paper Tiger to perferate the vinyl surface, pressing only hard enough to perferate the vinyl and not perferate the wallboard, under it. Soak in a similar fashion and scrape or pull off, once you've given it time to break down the adhesive. I use Safe and Simple removal solution from California. If you do more than a little removal, it's worth the investment to purchase. They'll ship you a gallon and it goes a long way. Much more effective than "Over the Counter" removal formulas. Good luck.
