I am looking for a little advice on using VOV in my pastemate. I have a few hundred yards to hang in a corridor that has existing 54-inch viny that is tight and smooth. I am going over it with 21 oz ,54-inch vinyl.Although this is not my preferred method ,I have been urged to go over the existing vinyl.Truthfully, I have never poured VOV in my machine and it was scary. I started it today and thinned the VOV and the first couple strips were fine but soon therafter the glue was hard to keep moist. I am in the desert where 4% humidity is not uncommon. My question(s) are:
1) How much can you thin VOV without compromising the adhesion?
2)Should I just use an acrylic primer on top of the vinyl and proceed with Heavy Duty vinyl adhesive?
3) What would your suggestion be for best primer over heavy vinyl? Gardz? Draw-tite? Shiedz Clear? R-35?
I really do not want to use atinted or whit primer but a quick drying clear.

Thanks for your help!

I would prime and hang with heavy duty clear, and clean your machine as soon as possable. All it takes is acouple of small spots of dried vov on the vinyl and your in trouble. R35 will be fine, and I would not use Shieldz clear for 54" vinyl.Rusty

Thanks Rusty, I already cleaned the machine thoroughly this afternoon. That is one of my problems, I usually mist the machine down ,cover with plastic or piece of vinyl, put cover on and let it rest for the evening, then meticously clean after 3 days or so, but VOV is a different story. I haven't used R-35 for about 8 or 9 years. That may be my choice if I can get a 5 of it reasonable. I think I saw it @ Sherwin for a crazy price of over 20 bucks a gallon. My price should be a lot better but I think I used to pay about 13 dlls a gal in the 90's. Thanks again for your response!
