View Full Version : walpaper paste
 This is my 1st post to any type online forum, so please bear with me. I found your site by a link on www.romandecoratingproducts.com . I am attempting to apply "Village heavy duty wall liner". It is not pre-pasted, which is the only kind of wallpaper I've ever hung. I have "Roman's Premium paste for unpasted wallper". The directions are very poor. They only tell what to do if you are applying paste to pre-pasted wallpaper. NO instructions for unpasted wallpaper.:help:
I would appreciate any advice. Thanks for your patience and I'm sorry this
post is so long:o
thanks, again

Heck, don't worry about your posting, you did fine. Sorry no one got back to you sooner- there goes Saturday  !
Wet your finger and wipe it on the back of the liner- if there's any tack, you've got prepasted. I know you say it's unpasted, but maybe the directions have it right (for once!).
The premixed pastes like you have can be made easier to apply by having them shaken at the paint store- the shaking thins them out (how's thatt for chemistry!). You can also just stir the contents with a paddle or whisk. You might thin the paste a bit with water, but don't use too much, that's lowering the adhesive power and making the paste take longer to dry.
Apply the paste with a roller and a good 3/8" nap. Roll in an "X" pattern like you would painting a wall, to spread the paste out evenly and cover every spot. Get the least amount on the face as you can, but it all washes off anyways with water. You might set up a table with saw horses and a piece of plywood.
Pasting is easy. Just remember that an even, thin coat is sufficient.
It's the hanging that's tough:D Good luck!
Chris,
Thank you so very much:)
You answered all the questions I have at this point of the project.
You have no idea how helpful you have been.
I'm sure I'll have more questions as I get more involved in the process,
and now I'm confident I will be able to get answers for them.
Thanks for making my 1st post a success.
