I am a contractor in Michigan and I have to strip a small kitchen with one layer of newer wallpaper. Then I have to paint the walls after. I was wondering what to a fair price is to charge per square foot to strip the paper? The paper was hung by a professional hanger before.

Try a median of $1.00 per sq. ft. to remove the paper incl. washing off the old adhesive. More or less depending on these five factors...

1. Whether a wallcovering primer was used.
2. The type/amount of adhesive used.
3. The stability of the wallcovering.
4. The stability of the surface to be removed from.
5. The amount of protection needed in the work area (rugs, drapes, electrical outlets, etc.)

There are plenty of "good jobs" that aren't engineered for easy removal. Given all the scenarios, to be able to quote firm will take YEARS of full-time experience.
