Our industry- our trade- is tougher than ever. The market, the materials, the demands keep raising the expectation levels of our performance. What's a shrewd, entrepreneurial, wily, brave, thrifty, smart, good-looking paperhanger to do??

Sign up for the Asheville Convention and Trade Show, that's what!

Check this out, for just one- 1 - reason to go: on the Thursday of the Convention:
-the Trade Show will be held. Here you can peruse your favorite supplies, hobnob with company representatives (bitch, moan, complain- to a captive audience- their staked with chains to their booth!!), buy goods you can't get back home easily, try products before buying them, find supplies and tools you didn't even know existed!!!
-the Winning Walls With Wallcoverings (WWWW) Luncheon follows (paid for by Zinsser). See what your peers can do and have done, complete with written explanations and photographed progressions of the jobs.
-the host region, the great Southeast with assistance of the superlative Atlanta Chapter, follows with a Hands On Demonstration in unprecedented fashion: real frame-and-sheetrock walls (inside and outside corners, trimmed moldings, etc.) , full pasting table set-ups and specialized tools (lasers, aviation snips, etc.), all there to show you how to template difficult materials, and a second demo (!) on parquet and on-point techniques!!! Bring your hand tools and get walked through these processes that are increasingly some of the best money-makers for paperhangers! Real conditions that translate to experience at the wall!!! Can you believe it? Can you afford to miss this? HECK, NO!!!!
-Had enough? Tired? Need to catch up on your rest? Forget that action! Chuck the tools back in your room, and get down to the shuttle bus for the Safe & Simple Pub Crawl! No, you don't have to drink alcohol to enjoy this outing. Phil Reinhart scouts out the local establishments- many have food, too- and puts together a route of pubs where we rub elbows, talk technique, form friendships, and enjoy being with others who toil in our trade. For those who often work alone, this is an event that makes us part of the whole.

That's just one day. Think about it, but don't take too long- EARLY REGISTRATION ENDS THIS TUESDAY, JULY 15!!!

Great post Chris!

At large members should also really consider coming to the convention. It is a great time to network and learn new skills and techniques. You can consider this your once a year meeting. The opportunities and knowledge exchanged at the convention more than pays for itself. Give it some serious thought and take the big step and join us for a very informative convention. e

Good reminder Elsie,

We chapter members forget how tough it must be for at-largers to stay in the loop. How hard it must be to keep up to date with tips, tricks, tools, & techniques.

Even with all the communication tools at our disposal, there is nothing like face-talk and hands-on.

The conventions probably benefit the at-largers the most ----- at it's great for the Chapter members to learn from them also.

(on a personal note - thanks for the call yesterday, e. & v. )
