The current issue of the NGPP newsletter, The Installer, is the best put out yet by current editor, Tim Bodine. All the articles were really good. There was a heck of a lot of meat on those written bones! Brian Hunter will demo his chop sawed bamboo at the Asheville Convention and Trade Show, Sept. 17-20, along with other techniques mentioned in my article on the Thurs. PM hands-on demo, as one result of that issue.
The only complaint I have- Eunice's article on making wallcoverings, gleaned mainly from what she learned on the Metro NY Tech Tour this spring- should have been on the front page, with pictures! I understand why my promotional article for the Convention did go there, but still, hers is very good, and again shows just what a great event that was. Steve Andrews, outgoing Associate's Chair, and RD/Tour Chair Cyndi Green (amongst others) did a great job, and a great service to the industry. Through their efforts, WA members have been incredibly helpful in getting us materials for the Thurs. demo. Think of it: over 120 paperhangers at the walls at once! And previous to that, after we assemble the walls, there will be 'informal' demos of light & heavy blankstock, muslin, synthetic liners, even "faster plaster!" Ever table-trim 54" vinyl? Come on down! Want to compare the premixed pastes on the market, side by side? You'll get your chance! Heard about Bob Kelly's pH Wheat and pH Cellulose, and wondered what the buzz is about? You'll see! Ever tried the mystical pH Wheat/Dynamite 111 mix? End the mystery, give it a try!
Think membership is expensive (and are you kidding me? Do you know how little it costs to join?)? I think it is far more expensive to not belong to the National Guild of Professional Paperhangers.
