I looked at a job recently where the client wants to use a specific primer - California Primer/Sealer/Undercoater & Vapor Barrier 20200 (http://www.californiapaints.com/Pdf/Spec/InPri/A/20200%20P%20CPrimer%20Sealer%20Undercoater%20and%2 0Vapor%20Barrior.pdf). It was specified by the insulation company who had just put urethane foam insulation in the walls. Apparently it requires a vapor barrier on the interior walls.
The product specifies that, "This is also a superior product for sealing any surface to which wallcoverings will be applied. Wallcoverings can be removed at a future date without damaging the sheetrock or skimcoat plaster substrate".
Has anyone out there used this product and how has it worked out? The paper I'll be hanging is a standard Thibaut.

Well it looked familiar and after a trip to the dungeon AKA my basement, I found a can. I used it to seal a ceiling that I thought might have calcimine under the existing paint. I believe I topcoated it with an acrylic...possibly Shieldz , Gardz or some other. I did line the ceiling too. I would think a top coat of Swing would suffice. I worked there a few times after and had seen nor heard of any problems. I am guessing it was about 8 years ago.
