Hello all. My name is Scott, a very young 42. Feel more like 20:banana: I have receintly relocated to Las Vegas from south eastern Minnesota. Union member for 17 years and have spent 13 of those years hanging 54. Work out here is tough to come by. Just getting someone to look at a resume takes an act of god. 800 painters on the union bench right now! I am lucky I guess...I am number 672 to get called back to work :roflmao::roflmao:Enough venting :furious: Just a little hello. A question ? How dose a person become a GUILD MEMBER? I have actualy never heard of the "National Guild Of Professional Paperhangers",sorry, but it sounds impressive. At least my union B.A. has never infome any of us:confused: Any way Hello all vinyl and paper hangers of the guild

Welcome Scott.. I joined the guild recently and to say I'm very impressed would be an understatement. I've learned so much in the last few months since joining and talking shop with the boys and girls...These people look out for you and if they here about a big 54" job in vegas who do you think they will call.. I've received some good leads and a couple of jobs that I never would have had the opportunity if I didn't join.. Check out this link http://www.ngpp.org/join_benefits.php and I believe their is another link at the bottom that says join guild.. The server is acting up today but heres the link to the main page http://www.ngpp.org/lounge/index.php. I can't wait to welcome you aboard and look forward to getting to know you...

Hello Scott and welcome, My name is Vincent J. LaRusso, I am a installer from New York over the last 30 years and a past union guy myself. The unions will not tell you or mention anything about us for they think we are not worthy, you know the union is better then anybody else mentality. Although the union has its positives it also has a lot of negitives, like everything else, they have good and bad things in all
With that said I am the Metro Regional Director and we are always looking for new members to join. We have a lot of associate members of the wall covering manufacture side and are always looking for good NGPP installer(s) to hung thier products. Which they highly recommend!
So we need to spread the word any way we can and together we can make a difference in the wall covering industry. We have members all over the World as well! In, England, South Africa, Austrailia, Japan, Mexico, Canada as well here in the U.S.A.
Please spread the word and for yourself join the knowledge and passion that the NGPP has to offer is priceless, I have been a member for only 8 years (I only wish I joined 20 years ago) and the tricks and tips are just a small part of what we are about, how about the networking and talking with the owners of some of these wall covering manufactures and handing them your business card and in return they hand you thiers, what a plus!
Anything you can hone or network you craft, it is money well spent and in this case joining the NGPP is priceless!
Good luck and welcome aboard
Thanks and have a nice day,
Vincent J. LaRusso

Welcome Scott! There is a Guild member in Las Vegas - Dave Durno (OK, he's actually in Henderson) and he might be able to be a contact for you Guild wise and work wise. He's one heck of an installer and does a lot of commercial vinyl - look up next time you're in Caesar's palace at the digital murals on the ceiling - that's his work. His number is 702-433-4900 and email is durno6@cox.net
I'm an installer in Edmonton Canada and will second Pete's opinion that I really started learning when I joined the Guild, networking with other installers. Have you heard about the conention in Niagara Falls yet? It's going to be amazing. Check out the program online. Hope we see you there. It's a long way for me to go to conventions each year but worth every penny. From what I learn about in the way of new tools and techniques it more than pays for itself.
