Mike,

Welcome to our site.

One of my colleagues did a quick google and a person of your name came up on a pdf as a committee member of the 2009 Provincial Skills Competition.

http://www.skillsalberta.com/provincials/..%5Cpdf%5Cscopes%5CPainting_and_Decorating%5Cpost _secondary%5CPaintingDecorating(PostSecondary)(200 9).pdf

If this is you and has any connection with your inquiry, could you be a little more specific as to how we can help? Personally I'm a bit confused as to what you are looking for.

Thanks

Hi Mike,

I'm an installer in Edmonton and have been a Guild member for a few years - actually we are looking at hosting a meet the guild event in Edmonton next fall. In the meantime I'd be happy to answer any questions you might have. My phone number is 780-707-4452 (cell) and office 780-431-1278 email bokstrom@shaw.ca (bokstrom@shaw.ca) Company is Design Wallcovering - been in the trade over 20 years.

If it's instructional DVD's you're after, were the ones you had from the American School of Paperhanging Arts? There aren't a lot of newer ones on the market - well, a DIY focused one from Roman Adhesives, but that's about all. There are a couple of good textbooks however, and you've come across one of the best resources by checking out the Guild.

I was talking to Alan Kabotoff last week and introducing him to the Guild - I think we really need to network with you guys (NAIT/SAIT) to connect new installers to this trade organization and also to help you keep abreast of industry changes. Wallcovering has changed so much from what most course outlines cover, and the Guild conventions and tradeshows are the best way to find out what's new and how to install it. Look forward to talking to you. Send me your mailing address and I'll get you an info package about the NGPP.

Mike,

Please allow me to share with the others your email to me. I think you posed your question more clearly and completely in that email and therefore others may be able to offer some help:

I run the Painting and Decorating Program for SAIT Polytechnic.I am currently updating my videos to Dvds. My current material is from the 80's in Vhs format.I was wondering if have any recommendation for instructional DVDs or related material?

For an answer, the only one I know (besides what Eunice mentioned) is a DVD produced a few years ago by David Groff named "Wallpapering Made Easy"

I googled it, but the website I found
https://www.wallpaperingmadeeasy.com/ContactUs/tabid/2434/Default.aspx

said:

"The hosting contract for Wallpapering Made Easy expired on 9-Mar-2009. Please contact webmaster@wallpaperingdvd.com for further information."

I could not find other links for that DVD.

I have not seen the DVD, but David has a solid reputation for knowing how to present instructional material for wallpaper installation.

I also googled "Wallcovering instruction DVD" and saw some DVD's that are totally unknown to me. I can form no opinion one way or the other about them.

good luck.

-Bill

One of my former members, Lewis Eklund had a full set of video tapes he was looking to sell. I believe he said they were from one of the old Paperhanging Schools. I found his info in an old Resource Guide. If he is still there it is as follows:
