After reading the article on the cabin where Muslin was tacked up prior to installing the wallpaper - I have a similar situation where the walls are slatboard and have a considerable amount of movement.
I have not installed Muslin before and I am courous if you just tack the top and bottom and how do you address the seams of the Muslin since it is not adheard to the wall.

I also would like a recomendation for a suplier of Muslin.

Thank you for any advice that you could give me

We did a cabin in colorado a few years ago. We used a nail gun and tacked the muslin up very tight. We installed the muslin to the left top corner, then right bottom, then right top then bottom left. Then center top, center bottom, then center side to side.
Then it was sprayed with Animal Hide glue. The glue was melted over heat and put in to a garden sprayer. Then we sprayed it over the muslin and allowed the muslin to dry. This shrunk it away from the slats on the wall.
Then the paper was Pre trimmed. Then placed on the muslin.
The seams in the Muslin was placed away from the surface but towards the wooden slats.
Does this help at all?

A retired member, Bill Reimers, published a binder of the old-time method of putting muslin over "shiplap": paprstrchr@sbcglobal.net
