Recently married and moved to CT. I have started a new paperhanging business and would like some input about pricing and rates for this area. My husband insists that I am not charging enough.

Not sure what your skill level is, but as a business owner and mechanic, your time ought to be worth $45/hour or better. Charge what you think the market will bear. BTW, I grew up in Newtown. Haven't lived there since '71, but I still travel through once in a while. Where are you?

Thanks for the input.
I have 25 years experience though in a very rural area where prices are very deflated. This is why I am asking for a more up-to-date pricing for the area. I live along the shoreline not far from Old Saybrook.
Anyone else?

Depending on skill level, cost of insurance/taxes, $35-$55 per hour isn't out of the ballpark. On the roll scale, at least $25-$35 per roll. But it really depends if the market will bear this price, and more importantly, can you sell at this price. Price won't mean anything if you are losing jobs left and right to low-ballers. I raised my rates last year, and it didnt take long to realize I needed to work on my sales skills.
Cliff turned me onto this website, http://www.markupandprofit.com/ , and it has a lot of good info on pricing, markup, overhead, and profit.
