Hi

My name is Doug Wilkie, I am 38 yrs old.. I have been in the decorating trade for 23 yrs.. I am very experienced in application of wallcoverings and other aspects of the decorating trade.. I am originally from Scotland but I've lived in New Zealand and now I reside in Queensland Australia. I have hung wallpaper in some of the more prestigous buildings in these countries, and I would like to further my experience by working for a year in the US. I have recently returned from a trip to the US where I spent some time in Oregon and also San Francisco. I would be more than happy to accept any opportunity in the US as I feel the experience of working and applying wallcoverings there would be an education in itself. If there are any employers who would be willing to offer me a temporary position then I'm sure that the experience would benefit us both.

Thanks

Doug Wilkie

Wouldn't that entail getting a green card- permission to work in the US? Or would you get a tourist visa? And if so, how'd you get your tools here?

I would apply for a year working visa, which would be granted as long as the company I worked for was able to offer me employment for the year. As for my tools, I'd ship my hand tools and If I needed any bigger equipment I would purchase it in the US. I'm looking at this project as a legitimate working and learning experience not as some easy back door way to earn a green card to the US. I more than happy with my life and home in Australia but at the same time I would like to expand and improve on my work experience.
