Removing Wallpaper From Behind A Toilet

How in the world do you get the old wallpaper out from behind the toilet without removing the toilet?

I use a long handled scraper, or sometimes a cake decorating knife (thanks Mike Z).

Use a 18" metal yard stick. You can sweep back behind tank.

I know you asked about not removing toilet but it is fairly simple to remove most water tanks without actually pulling up entire toilet. this is what i do when i dont have much wall clearance to work with. this does not interfer with the wax seal on the floor
