I need to apply heavy fabric on walls. Upholstery type. Needs to stick pretty well. Adhesive suggestions?

Any approved P.V.A adhesive will be adequate

Dano, thank you for your reply. The walls are "theatrical" -- made out of lumber. Do you suggest that I mix the P.V.A adhesive with a little bit or water, spread it on top of the walls and them apply the fabric dry. Or would you sugest some other approach? By the way, would Elmer's glue be P.V.A?

What I was initially going to use was: Golden Harvest1 gal. Premium Clear Wallcovering Adhesive

GH80 Premium Clear Wallcovering Adhesive is the universal adhesive for hanging all types and weights of wallcovering. Combines the best features of a clear and a clay adhesive. Can be diluted 33% to 50% for hanging prepasted wallcoverings. Maximum tack with extended open time. Spreads easily and promotes strippability. Excellent for the Do-It-Yourselfer and the most discriminating professional. Yet I was afraid it won't hold well enough. The show needs to travel. Are you familiar with this product?

On behalf of Atlantic Coast Opera, NJ I would like to thank you once again.

I would use a clay-based adhesive. Thin it a little bit (or have the store shake it), roll on a thin coat, let it dry completely, roll a second thi coat on top of the first coat, and then dry hang immediately. Time-tested method. Where is the job? Several of us are in Jersey.
